My name is Gabi Abrahamson and I am originally from Irvine, California. I have been teaching and working in education for over 9 years, and I absolutely love getting to work with kids! I received my Bachelor's degree in Fine Arts from The San Francisco Art Institute and my Master's degree in Teaching from Chapman University, as well as my multiple subject teaching credential for K-12th grade.
Over the years, I have worked as a general education and art teacher in public, private, and charter schools throughout California. Currently, I tutor privately, providing both online and in- person learning services for grades K-8. Although I teach all subjects, I specialize in reading, writing, and visual art. I have a 100% success rate with my students, and have brought up grades by up to two letters in one semester.
My teaching approach is very hands- on and interactive. I try to use as many visuals in my lessons, such as bubble maps, flashcards, colorful charts, and other learning tools. I have seen again and again that in order for students to learn effectively, they must feel deeply engaged and connected with the content, and most importantly, with their instructor. A catalyst for building this engagement is truly getting to know each of my student's interests, background, strengths, and areas for growth. I've built strong, lasting relationships with my students and their families, and am always looking to form new ones!
