Fun with Watercolors
4 Classes, 90 minutes each
Ages- 5-7, 8-10 years
Please bring:
1 watercolor set
2 watercolor paintbrushes
4 pieces of 9’’ x 11’’ watercolor paper
Explore the magic of watercolors with this unique, interactive class! Kids will enjoy learning techniques for mixing paint, stroke-making, and taking care of their brushes. We will be painting from pictures, still- life and imagination.
Oil Painting
Ages- 8-12 years
4 classes, 90 minutes each class
Please bring:
Oil paints (at least primary colors, but the more colors the better!)
Terpenoid Natural (This is safest to use, non toxic, and non-combustable)
At least 2 oil brushes (1 thin, 1 thick)
Palette paper/wood/any surface for putting oil paints
Palette knife
3 Canvases (any size)
Oil Painting Paper (or any thick paper)
Learn about one of the most popular painting mediums used by artists throughout the world! Students will learn about color theory and fundamental oil painting techniques, such as color mixing, color value, composition, glazing, brushwork, paint application, texture, and more. We will be painting from still-life, landscape, pictures, and whatever inspires you the most! Students will take inspiration from famous oil painters, including Van Gogh, Gustav Klimt, and Pablo Picasso. Kids will be able to create multiple paintings that they will be proud to hang in your home.
Comic-Book Making
4 classes, 90 minutes each class
All materials included
Ages- 5-7, 8-12 years
Have you ever wanted to create your own comics? Well, this is the perfect class for you! Kids will learn how to visualize and illustrate their own unique ideas based on plot, genre, action, character traits, and emotions. They will learn about important comic book artists, such as Robert Crumb, Jim Steranko, and Osamu Tezuka. We will explore how to format comic books, and students will be able to take home a handmade comic book by the end of the 4 classes.
Mixed Media Collage
5-7, 8-12
4 classes, 90 minutes each class
All materials included
Learn how to create eye-catching art from a variety of different materials, such as magazines, newspaper, tissue paper, and cardboard. Kids will learn about composition, building a base layer, and adding decorative elements. This unique class will challenge students to narrow down materials and use their “editing eye” to make sure all of the elements work together. We will be working on four different projects, taking inspiration from still-life and imagination.
